EKO HOT BLOG reports that the former three-term member of the House of Representatives, Daniel Reyenieju, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
The development follows his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) barely three days after he wished the state chapter of the party well.
This online media platform gathered that Reyenieju, who is a former Senatorial aspirant of the PDP, was decorated with APC robes by the party’s candidate for the Delta South Senatorial District, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas.
Reyenieju, while speaking at the decoration ceremony, pledged to mobilise massively for his new party as well as work hard for the victory of the party at the forthcoming polls.
He claimed that the PDP was no longer a home for its members and has deviated from its core objectives, therefore an urgent need to join the APC to rescue Delta State from collapse.
Others who were decorated included two-time Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission Chairman and former House of Assembly Member, Tonye Timi as well as former Executive Assistant (Technical Education) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Chairman of the Technical Education Board, Michael Akpobire.
It was gathered that at the ceremony Thomas appreciated the decision of the former PDP loyalist to defect to the APC, saying they are great political actors with vast experience in politics.
Recall that Reyenieju, who represented Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, resigned his membership of the PDP last Monday night.
