In a communique signed by the Chairman of Christian Experts, Prof. Ebitimi Weigha, and the forum’s Secretary, Dr. Kossi David, the group called on the church and wealthy Christians to “without any delay organize distribution of foods in all communities where churches are planted.”
The forum also asked church leaders to work with community leaders where churches are planted to reduce and eliminate kidnapping, banditry, terrorism and social evils.
“Churches should provide affordable quality education and good health facilities for Nigerians,” the communique reads in part.
“Government should warn people from creating volatile situations that can create religious violence in any part of the nation.
“We prayerfully look forward to a united church where Jesus will be glorified and Nigeria, our nation for a peaceful co-existence.”
The forum maintained that the church is capable of solving some problems of the nation.
Prof. Kunle Macaulay, a Christian leader and a theologian, confirmed the need for the church and Christians in particular to prove the uniqueness of God by healing and feeding the nation as Jesus went about feeding and healing those who were sick.
According to Prof. Macaulay, Nigeria is sick and hungry and the church cannot deny its ability to heal and feed the nation at this particular time.
