Foundation Inaugurates Public Toilet To Curb Open Defecation In Badagry

An NGO, Senu-Oke Development Foundation, on Sunday inaugurated a four-room toilet and bathroom in Idoluwo Quarters in Apa Community area of Badagry to curb open defaecation.

Addressing residents at the inauguration, Dr Oluseyi Senu-Oke, Founder of the foundation, said he constructed the toilet to ensure that people maintain good hygienic environment.

Senu-Oke, represented by his brother, Mr Olanrewaju Oke, urged residents of the area to properly maintain the facility for more to come to the area.

He said that his expectation with the inauguration of the facility was to keep the environment clean always.

“Always make sure that the environment is keep neat. I have determined to build three of the facility at Apa Town Hall and two other places in the community,” he said.

Senu-Oke said that his foundation had constructed five boreholes for the community to ensure they have access to clean water.

“Apart from this, the foundation was taken care of close to 150 widows before the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are presently collecting data of youths who are jobless and the elders to know where to assist them financially or help them with employment.

“We will still continue with our widows endowment fund which was stopped during the lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

Commenting, Mr Samuel Awato, the Secretary to Alapa of Apa Kingdom, Oba Adekanmi Oyekan, commended the foundation for building the public toilet in Idoluwo Compound.

According to Awato, this is the third project brought to Apa Kingdom by the foundation.

“I have spent 27 years in Apa Community, but I can say categorically that Idoluwo Compound is unique, because of this illustrious son of yours who always bring good things to Apa,” he said.

Also, Mrs Ebun Odukunle, a Women Leader, assured the foundation that the residents would make good use of the toilet.

Odukunle thanked Senu-Oke for using the foundation to better the lots of people in Apa Kingdom.

A Youth Leader in the area, Mr Jeremiah Oluwo, commended Senu-Oke for the provision of toilet.

Oluwo said that God had used the man to bless them in Apa, through the provision of water, fund for the widows and currently, the public toilet.

He appealed to the foundation to help the gifted sons and daughters of the land, who could not afford to further their education.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that representatives of Alapa of Apa, Baale and Chiefs, market women and residents of the community graced the occasion.
