Predictable Future Foundation (PFF) has said 50 of the 500 girls expected to attend its 2019 annual girls conference on Thursday, April 9 at Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) House, Ikeja, would be awarded scholarship.
The conference, planned to champion discussions around inclusive and qualitative education for the girl-child, will have some key stakeholders in the education eco-system as discussants.
President, PFF, Hannah Oyebanjo said recent United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) statistics showed that girls make up 60 per cent of the about 10.5 million out-of-school children in Nigeria. “Although the task is very enormous, every child, no matter their circumstances or gender deserves an education.”
She added that the mission of the foundation is to secure inclusive and qualitative education for the girl-child with the attendant ripple effects of a better economy, empowerment and a more sustainable country. “This year’s edition comes at a crucial time when the number of out of school children, especially girls is an all time high,” she said.
Some of the partners and sponsors for the conference include NECA, Redwood Consulting, Zone4 Energy, Digilearn, EduLearn, Vas2net and others.
