Four key aides to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki have resigned just weeks ahead of the upcoming governorship election, signaling a shift in the state’s political dynamics.
The aides, all former Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), submitted their resignation letters on September 4 and 6, 2024, and also announced their departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the individuals who resigned are Osayande Emenya and Henry Osaheni Ukato from Ward 6, Efosa Edo-Osagie from Oredo Local Government, and Timothy Edokpolor from Ward 8, Ikpoba Okha.
Additionally, Dr. Pamela Archer resigned as Special Adviser to the Owan East Local Government Council.
In their letters, the aides expressed dissatisfaction over salary issues and marginalization within the party. Emenya and Edo-Osagie, both key figures in their respective wards, cited unpaid salaries and lack of recognition for the party’s aboriginal members as reasons for their departure.
Dr. Archer also raised concerns about the lack of inclusiveness in the council’s decision-making process, which she said hindered effective governance.
She emphasized that her decision to resign was driven by a desire for transparency and collaboration in governance, which she found lacking in her role.
All four expressed gratitude to the party leadership and the governor for the opportunity to serve, while calling attention to the need for a more equitable and inclusive political system in the state.
