EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four officers over alleged extortion of money from a resident of the state.
The arrest of the policemen was made known via a statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, on Thursday.
The statement read, “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to a video going viral on social media exposing some police officers in Maroko Police Division extorting money from a citizen.
“Peeved by the unprofessional conduct of the officers as captured/revealed in the video, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, directed that the erring police officers should be identified and arrested immediately.

“In compliance with the directive, therefore, all the four police officers have been arrested and detained. They are currently facing disciplinary actions,” Ajisebutu stated.
The police spokesperson added that the commissioner of police vowed to deal decisively “with any police officer found acting in such or other unprofessional manner in the Command”.
