Residents Raise Safety Concerns As Four Separate Accidents Rock Epe Division In One Week

The incessant incidents have raised safety concerns among residents.
Eko Hot Blog reports that tensions are heightened in parts of Epe Division as four accidents shook residents of Ibeju-Lekki and Epe, Lagos State.
The first accident happened on Tuesday as a CNG gas tanker fell near Epe’s T-junction.

However, the tanker fall did not result in an explosion.
Same day, there was a gas explosion in Ibeju Lekki that resulted in the death of two residents.
Also, there was a tanker explosion along Temu road, Epe, on Thursday.
On Friday, a fuel tanker fell near the Ibeju Lekki General Hospital, Akodo.

FIRST ACCIDENT AT T-JUNCTION EPE
On Tuesday, Epe residents near the T-junction experienced an explosion scare.
A CNG gas tanker fell close to the junction, but there was no explosion.
Emergency services responded to the scene and contained the situation with no casualty.
SECOND ACCIDENT IN IBEJU LEKKI
On Tuesday, there was a second incident at the Abule Pan bus stop in Ibeju Lekki.
The incident killed two people, including a gas vendor and injured many.
The combined efforts of policemen, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers, and men of the Lagos State Fire Service helped to control the inferno.
The Ibeju Lekki LGA Council Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, visited the scene of the explosion and commiserated with victims.
The council boss also visited victims at the hospital and promised that the local government will take care of their medical bills.
THIRD INCIDENT IN EPE
On Thursday, a truck carrying insecticide fell off and exploded along Temu Road, Epe.
The accident led to a big fire that resulted in the destruction of property.
It took the intervention of the Lagos Fire Service to get rid of the fire.
FOURTH INCIDENT AT IBEJU LEKKI GENERAL HOSPITAL
On Friday, there was a panic at the Ibeju Lekki General Hospital, Akodo, Epe Division, as a fuel tanker fell near the medical centre.
According to an eyewitness, the accident led to the “total destruction” of the hospital’s Catering and Store Department.
Some residents were seen scooping fuel from the scene of the accident, but there was no fire.
Eko Hot Blog also gathered that there was no loss of life as patients, staff, and visitors at the Ibeju Lekki General Hospital were safe.
The accident, which happened around 4pm on Friday, was said to be contained around 9pm.
The series of accidents has resulted in several residents raising concerns over road safety and gas storage.
