France’s Foreign Minister Aims To Avert Conflict Between Israel And Hezbollah

Eko hot blog reports that France’s foreign minister is working to prevent further tension and potential Conflict between israel and Hezbollah, backed by Iran, on a visit to Lebanon.
The goal is to find a solution that both sides can agree on to ease the situation in Hezbollah.
Earlier this year, France proposed that Hezbollah withdraw its elite unit 6 miles from the Israeli border, while Israel would stop striking southern Lebanon.
However, tensions have escalated, especially after Iran launched missiles at Israel in response to an alleged Israeli attack in Damascus.
Despite discussions with the United States, France’s proposal hasn’t progressed.

Yet, France emphasizes the seriousness of Israeli threats of military action in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah insists on a ceasefire in Gaza before any concrete discussions.
Israel and Hezbollah wants calm restored on its northern border for displaced Israelis to return safely.
Christophe Lemoine, French foreign ministry deputy spokesperson, stressed the need to prevent the situation from worsening.
Lebanese leaders, including Prime Minister Najib Nikati and army chief Joseph Aoun, discussed the French proposal with French President Emmanuel Macron, seeing it as a step toward peace and security.
Although there’s no consensus among Lebanese officials, France believes engagement is crucial.
France also highlights the urgency of resolving Lebanon’s political deadlock.
With no president or fully empowered cabinet since October 2022, the country’s stability is at risk.
While Israel supports efforts to ease tensions, a Lebanese diplomat admits uncertainty on both sides.
France, with 700 troops in southern Lebanon as part of the UN peacekeeping force, aims to strengthen the Lebanese army to enhance the UN’s effectiveness.
Overall, France seeks to prevent further conflict and promote stability in the region.
