Free UTME Exercise: Building Enviable, Exemplary Epe Our Priority – Abiodun Tobun

The Lawmaker representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mustain Abiodun Tobun, has described the goal behind his developmental strides as a conscious effort to build an Epe community that will be a pacesetter in every endeavour in the country.

Hon Abiodun Tobun said this while addressing the gathering at the 6th Edition of Free JAMB registration for 300 beneficiaries on Wednesday 14th April 2021, at Epe Local Council Chambers, Ita-Marun, Epe.

Notable dignitaries at the event include Hon Kehinde Adeniyi, Epe LGA APC Chairman, Hon Tunde Ogunkoya, Epe LG Education Supervisor, Mrs Obedat, Ward A1 Chairman, Hon Bola Iberu, Hon Ajisefinni, Hon Idris Giwa Aloma, Mr Segun Osinaike, Ogunmodede Senior College Principal, Alhaji Niyi Obedat, Epe Senior Grammar School Principal, Comrade Shittu Mustopha, NYCN Epe PRO and several other APC youths and supporters.

Hon Tobun further stressed that education must be acquired irrespective of life’s circumstances. He urged beneficiaries to be highly spirited and not relent in their efforts to succeed in the examination as such window of opportunity may not surface.

Dignitaries At The Event

He admonished the students to desist from cheating as they’d be found wanting in the practical implementation of what they’ve learnt. He therefore hinted that he would also organize free coaching sessions for successful beneficiaries up to the Post-UTME/JAMB.

Speaking with Ekohotblog in an interview, Hon Abiodun Tobun disclosed that the exercise was not limited to able bodied beneficiaries but also open to People Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).

” It is an all-inclusive and all-encompassing exercise, we provided everybody with the platform to exhibit their academic dexterity, they were screened based on their School Cert. The Physically challenged were given the opportunity to take part and we want to encourage them to always come on board and we will honour their requests”

A Cross Section Of Beneficiaries

” We feel that some of these brilliant youths and their parents may not of the opportunity of sponsoring them, and that’s why we’ve take it upon ourselves to provide this veritable platform for them to gain admission into higher institutions of learning and become somebody to reckon with in future”

“We feel our youths should be encouraged to grow mentally, spiritually and economically, with that, we can have a respite that we are building a very safe and secured prosperous environment”, he averred.

While the event featured presentation of JAMB forms to beneficiaries by the Lawmaker, Alhaji Niyi Obedat, the Principal of Epe Grammar School announced a gift of NGN25,000 to any beneficiary who gets the highest JAMB score. Similarly, Hon Giwa Idris Aloma promised to sponsor any beneficiary who makes it to any Federal University in Nigeria. In the same vein, Hon Bola Iberu on behalf of Tobun for Real Success Team promised to present the candidate with the highest score a gift.

Presentation Of JAMB Form To A Beneficiary

Ekohotblog gathered that the UTME/JAMB 7-8 weeks rigorous coaching is slated for Monday April 19th 2021 at Epe Girls’ High School from 4-6 pm, Mondays – Fridays and 10-2 pm on Saturdays.

Earlier in a separate interview with Ekohotblog, Mr Segun Osinaike, the award winning Principal of Ogunmodede College Epe, who also doubles as the Education Committee Chairman for the Hon Abiodun Tobun Free UTME/JAMB Exercise, described the selection process as a daunting task. While appreciating the Epe Lawmaker for his generosity and love for the youths and progress in Epe, He revealed that the 5 man committee set up did the job not only based on academics but morally. He noted that the JAMB level screening was employed to scale down 657 applicants to 300.

He further hinted that influences from party members were subjected to meeting the basic requirements and as such, those shortlisted were selected on merit in a free, fair and transparent process.
