EKO HOT BLOG reports that Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United this summer, stating that he is “very happy” at Camp Nou.

The Netherlands international was a top target for United last summer, but he refused to move to Old Trafford despite both clubs agreeing a €85 million (£72m) fee.

De Jong’s decision not to join United last summer led to the club agreeing on a £70m deal with Real Madrid for Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. However, the Red Devils have renewed their interest in the 25-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

After Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday evening, De Jong was asked about the possibility of a move to Manchester United this summer. He responded by saying, “No, I don’t think I’m going to make that step. You never know, of course, but at the moment I am very happy at Barcelona.”

The former Ajax star has been a key player for Barcelona this season, making 31 appearances in all competitions and contributing three goals and four assists. He has formed a solid partnership in midfield with Sergio Busquets and Pedri, and his performances have been praised by fans and pundits alike.

De Jong’s comments will come as a blow to Manchester United, who are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield this summer. The Red Devils have been linked with a number of players, including West Ham’s Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.
