Fresh Trouble In Kano NNPP As Factions Clash Over State Governorship
EKO HOT BLOG reports that a faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party led by Agor Major has urged the Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso-led faction not to resort to self-help over the Court of Appeal’s judgment that sacked the state Governor, Abba Yusuf.
Addressing journalists on Monday in Abuja, the National Secretary of the Major-led group, Oginni Sunday, said, “We say no to the self-help with this group of people threatening brimstone and the security are looking elsewhere.”

Sunday called for respect for the rule of law and the judiciary, disapproving of any attacks against the judicial system.
He added, “We know that the judiciary that we have will live up to expectations. Our ventilation of anger on Kano State is taken to the Supreme Court and therefore we need to wait and let the court decide.”
He wondered why security agents did not take action against the other faction for constituting a threat to the people and the judiciary.
“NNPP is a peace-loving party, a party with vision by law, Rabiu Kwankwaso came to our party as a tenant and has left and has been expelled.
“We are hereby calling on Inspector General Police and the Department of Security Services to investigate the activities of this group,” Sunday said.
In a swift reaction, the Kwankwaso faction of the party urged the public to disregard the Agbor-led faction, describing members of the faction as “expelled and sponsored elements.”
A statement by the Auditor-General of the faction, Ladipo Johnson, on Monday, read, “Certain expelled members of the NNPP and some ex-state chairmen, who are sponsored elements, are falsely saying as a form of propaganda, that Abba Yusuf was not a member of the NNPP as of the time of the election and that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is dismissed from the party.
“These allegations are false and inaccurate. We state that the Kano State Governor was a bona fide member of the NNPP at all material times and that we have confidence in the Supreme Court of Nigeria that justice will be done.
