Her debut novel, “The Turnaround,” is a poignant exploration of trauma, healing, and the enduring power of the human spirit.
The story follows Maria Adetunji, a young woman grappling with the emotional and psychological scars of a traumatic past.
Sent away from home to heal, Maria struggles to find her footing, grappling with feelings of isolation and despair.
Nwaeke’s own journey to authorship was an unexpected one.
“Someone needed help with a book,” she recalls.
“I offered to assist with an idea, and that’s how it started. I began writing what was initially intended to be a play, but the story evolved organically, leading me to rewrite it as a novel.”
The writing process was a deeply personal one for Nwaeke. “The Turnaround” reflects her own reflections on the human condition, exploring themes of family struggles, personal trauma, interpersonal conflict, and the importance of faith in overcoming adversity.
“It’s a story of healing, redemption, and the power of faith to overcome challenges,” she explains.
Nwaeke’s path to publication was not without its hurdles. She faced the daunting task of editing and refining her work before seeking guidance from a lecturer at Anchor University who also happened to be a publisher.
“He guided me through the process of publishing the book, from layout and design to printing,” she says, expressing gratitude for his mentorship.
Nwaeke attributes her success to her faith and the supportive environment at Anchor University. “Anchor University is a miracle ground,” she says with a smile. “I am a testament to that. God has been with me every step of the way.”
Reflecting on her journey, Nwaeke emphasizes the importance of perseverance and faith.
“There were times when I doubted myself, when I felt like giving up,” she admits.
“But I kept pushing forward, believing in my vision and trusting in God’s plan.”
“The Turnaround” is not just a novel; it’s a testament to Nwaeke’s talent, resilience, and unwavering belief in her own abilities.
It serves as an inspiration to aspiring writers and a reminder that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit can overcome and thrive.
Nwaeke’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the importance of nurturing young talent.
Anchor University, with its emphasis on academic excellence and holistic development, has played a crucial role in fostering her success.
