Eko Hot Blog reports that in a crucial safety advisory, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists against conveying petrol in jerrycans while traveling.
The Corps emphasized that this precautionary measure aims to prevent accidents caused by fire on the roads.
During an event to mark the West African Road Safety Organisation (WARSO) day in Kogi State, FRSC Sector Commander Samuel Oyedeji reiterated the significance of this warning.
“If motorists will display good character and drive safely on our highways, road traffic crashes will drastically reduce if not eradicated for the safety of lives and property,” Oyedeji stated.
Furthermore, he identified speeding, overloading, and dangerous driving as major contributors to road traffic crashes in the state.
Consequently, Oyedeji appealed to the motoring public to exhibit good character, cooperate with, and support FRSC’s efforts to ensure safety on the roads.
“This is the reason we carry our sensitisation campaigns to the nooks and crannies including worship centres and motor parks to ensure safety on our roads,” he added.
Additionally, the sector commander highlighted FRSC’s recent public enlightenment campaign at the Lokoja Mega Terminal (LMT) park, aimed at reducing road traffic deaths and injuries by 5 percent.
