FRSC Warns Nigerians Against Unsafe Travel Practices as 2025 Approaches
EKO HOT BLOG reports that FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed highlighted that end-of-year travels are expected to increase traffic on the nation’s highways, making roads busier than in previous months.
In a statement released on Saturday, Mohammed urged travelers to remain vigilant and cautious of drivers exhibiting signs of recklessness or intoxication before and during their journeys.

“This advisory is critical in light of recent road crashes, including the incidents in Jebba, Kwara State, on December 26, 2024, and on the Owo-Ikare route near Ose Bridge on December 28, 2024,” Mohammed said.
He attributed these accidents to driver negligence, reckless behavior, and passengers’ failure to intervene, call drivers to order, or report unsafe practices to the FRSC or other security agencies.

“To reduce the risk of preventable crashes on our highways, commuters must exercise caution when selecting vehicles, remain alert to their surroundings, and ensure their drivers are sober and capable throughout the journey,” he stated.
Emphasizing the shared responsibility for road safety, the Corps Marshal called on passengers to actively assess drivers’ conduct and inspect vehicles for roadworthiness, including tire conditions, brakes, and lighting systems.
By adopting these precautions, he noted, travelers can significantly lower their risk of road accidents and contribute to safer roads during the festive season.
