As a show of support during this challenging period, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has provided refuge for the suspended governor and his family.
Early on Wednesday morning, Fubara and his family discreetly departed the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.
Although the security presence around the premises has been reduced, a small contingent of Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and security personnel remains on site to maintain order and minimize disruptions.
Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has taken charge as the new administrator at the Rivers State Government House following a state of emergency declaration by President Bola Tinubu.
The former Chief of Naval Staff emphasized his commitment to restoring peace and stability to Rivers State after meeting with traditional rulers in Port Harcourt.
During the meeting, Ibas urged the traditional rulers to refrain from partisan politics and instead focus on their crucial role in maintaining regional peace.
He expressed his deep affection for the Niger Delta region and underscored the importance of Rivers State in Nigeria’s overall development.
Ibas acknowledged the pain caused by the ongoing instability in the state and vowed to leverage his experience as a naval chief to protect lives and foster a secure environment.
