Eko Hot Blog reports that Fulham have announced that Tosin Adarabioyo is leaving the club in preparation for his highly anticipated move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The 26-year-old central defender is set to be the inaugural acquisition of Enzo Maresca’s tenure at Stamford Bridge.
Adarabioyo, who has played for the last four years at Craven Cottage, amassed 132 appearances across all competitions for Fulham.
Despite interest from Newcastle and Liverpool, Chelsea emerged victorious in securing his signature, obtaining him on a free transfer.
Adarabioyo is scheduled to undergo a medical examination today before his official confirmation as a Chelsea player.
“The Club can confirm that Marek Rodak and Tosin will depart Fulham upon the expiry of their respective contracts at the end of this month,” a statement on Fulham’s official website read.
In the past two years, Chelsea have invested significantly in central defenders, but their success has been limited.
Kalidou Koulibaly was initially seen as Antonio Rudiger’s successor but only stayed for a single season before being sold to the Saudi Pro League.
Wesley Fofana missed the entirety of last season due to injury, and the French prospects Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile have only displayed flashes of potential.
