FULL LIST: Lagos State House Of Assembly Elections, Winners And Losers
  • The Lagos House of Assembly elections held on March 18.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the recently concluded Lagos State House of Assembly elections have been won and lost.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) picked up a whopping 38 seats, while the LP picked up the remaining two seats in the 40-seat assembly.

In the March 18 polls, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, was re-elected for a sixth term to represent Agege I constituency.

Agege Constituency I

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for Agege constituency election, Dr Lukman Adeniji, declared the results on Sunday at the Collation Centre in Orile Agege.

According to Adeniji, eight political parties fielded candidates for the election, with Obasa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing 17,214 votes to beat Raheem Alani of the Labour Party, who had 3,933, Kafayat Biobaku of the African Democratic Congress with 62 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party with 1,609 votes.

Adeniji declared Obasa as the winner, stating that he had satisfied the requirements of the law.

Agege Constituency II

In a related development, Alhaji Jubreel Abdulkareem of the APC also won the Agege Constituency II Assembly seat, defeating the Labour Party and PDP candidates who polled 7,159 and 1,598 votes, respectively.

Abdulkareem, a former Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, secured 15,676 votes.

Somolu constituency II

In Somolu Constituency I, Abiodun Orekoya of the APC emerged as the winner of the polls.

In another part of Somolu constituency, Samuel Apata of the APC was declared the winner of the second seat by INEC on Sunday.

The Returning Officer for the Somolu Constituency II, Issac Olusola, declared the results at about 5.05 a.m. at INEC Collation Centre in Somolu. Apata secured 21,220 votes to beat his closest opponent, Olusegun Fatai of the Labour Party (LP), who got 9,664 votes.

Ten political parties contested for the Somolu House of Assembly Constituency II seat.

Alimosho Constituency I

Hon. Luqman Orelope of the APC won in Alimosho State Constituency I, continuing the massive success of the ruling party.

Alimosho Constituency II

Hon. Kehinde Olaide Joseph won in Alimosho II, securing a return to the seat.

Ikorodu Constituency I

On Sunday, INEC declared Messers Gbolahan Ogunleye of the APC the winner winner of Lagos State House of Assembly elections in Ikorodu Constituency I.

Ogunleye polled 37, 341 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr Adetokunbo Osho of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 8,915 votes.

Ikorodu Constituency II

Abiodun Aro of the APC won the Lagos State House of Assembly election in Ikorodu State Constituency II.

Epe Constituency I

Hon. Tobun Abiodun of the APC won an impressive victory in Epe State constituency I, beating rivals from the Labour Party and People’s Democratic Party.

Epe Constituency II

Hon. Sylvester O. Ogunkelu, on the other hand, won the Epe State Constituency II seat, scoring the vast majority of votes.

Surulere Constituency I

Hon. Elliot Desmond O, a two-term state lawmaker, won the Surulere State Constituency I seat for the third time in a row. He beat Adebayo Bode of the LP to retain his seat.

Surulere Constituency II

Hon. (Mrs.) Sangodara Mosunmola Rotimi  also won in her re-election bid for the Surulere State Constituency II seat.

Ifako-Ijaye Constituency I

Temitope Adedeji of APC won the Ifako-Ijaiye State Constituency I race.

Ifako-Ijaye Constituency II

Emmanuel Olotu of the APC won the Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II seat.

Ikeja Constituency I

Adeseyi Lawal of APC won the Ikeja Constituency I race.

Ikeja Constituency II

Adedamola Kasunmu, also of APC, won the Ikeja Constituency II seat.

Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I

Oladipo Ajomale of APC won Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I.

Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II

Stephen Ogundipe of APC won Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II.

Ojo constituency 1

Olusegun Ege of APC captured victory in the race for Ojo State Constituency I seat in the Lagos House of Assembly.

Ojo constituency II

Suraju Tijani, also of APC, won Ojo Constituency II seat.

Mushin Constituency I

Nureni Akinsanya of APC won Mushin Constituency I.

Mushin Constituency II

Olayinka Kazeem of APC won the Mushin Constituency II seat.

Lagos Mainland Constituency I

Owolabi Ajani of APC won Lagos Mainland Constituency I

Lagos Mainland Constituency II

Engr. Rasheed Shabi, also of APC, won the Lagos Mainland Constituency II seat.

Engr. Shabi is a former General Manager of the LASEPA, an environmental protection agency of the state government.

Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I

The Amuwo-Odofin State Constituency I poll is one of the duo of bright spots for the opposition LP.

The party picked up the seat through Foluke Osafile who got the better of her opponents in the APC and PDP.

Amuwo-Odofin Constituency II

Tunde Fashina also of the Labour Party (LP) emerged as winner of Amuwo-Odofin constituency II.

Lagos Island Constituency I

Olumegbon Lawal of APC won Lagos Island Constituency I

Lagos Island Constituency II

Olanrewaju Afinni, also of APC, won Lagos Island Constituency II seat.

Badagry Constituency I

Solomon Bonus of APC, won the Babagry State Constituency I poll.

Badagry Constituency II

Setonji David, also of APC, won Badagry Constituency II seat.
