Eko Hot Blog reports that as Tyson Fury prepares for his upcoming bout with Oleksandr Usyk, the Gypsy King has addressed the possibility of facing other high-profile challengers in the future, including Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou.
In an interview with Charlie Parsons of The Stomping Ground, Fury expressed his willingness to take on anyone, provided the financial incentive is significant enough. When asked about a potential rematch with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, Fury responded, “If the money is there, I will fight anyone.”
However, Fury remained cautious when questioned about a potential bout with Anthony Joshua if he gets past his two fights with Usyk. “Boxing is one of them things—you can go in there, and not come out of the ring,” he said. “So how would I underestimate an absolute beast—he’s an absolute killer and he’s a bad man, Usyk. So how would you underestimate him to be looking at a guy who he’s already beat twice? I don’t think you’d do that, would you?”
The potential for a Fury-Ngannou rematch seemed very high after their showdown in October, which was much closer than anyone expected. Ngannou even scored a third-round knockdown, but Fury was able to secure the win via split decision.
While there was initial hope of setting up a second fight between the two, that prospect may have diminished in the wake of Ngannou’s knockout loss to Joshua on March 8.
Fury vs. Joshua is a fight that has been long-anticipated, but various obstacles have prevented it from materializing. The two sides came closest to making it happen in March 2021 when they signed a two-fight deal to unify the heavyweight titles.
As Fury continues his preparations for Usyk, the possibility of future high-stakes matchups against Joshua or Ngannou remains intriguing, albeit uncertain, with the Gypsy King’s focus firmly fixed on the challenges that lie immediately ahead.
