FUTO Alumni To Hold Sixth Lecture In Lagos

The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) sixth biennial lecture will hold on Thursday at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos.
Chairman of FASMICRO Group, who also writes regularly in the Harvard Business Review, Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, will deliver the keynote address. He will discuss ‘The Pursuit of Exponential Development’.
His topic becomes germane as the world is moving away from traditional thinking to predictive thinking, a paradigm shift expected to spur and fast track innovation and development. It is, therefore, expected that exponential development will first occur in thinking and subsequently manifest in the environment and the economy.
As technology continues to evolve, and processes become more sophisticated, organizations and nations are racing to improve approaches and models to produce rich governance models.
Pursuing exponential development has become very critical for Nigeria, especially that the country with estimated population of 198 million, which is expected to rise to about 400 million in the next 30 years, and the country must avoid consequential and avoidable insecurity, economic and environmental disaster.
Prof. Ekekwe’s paper will, therefore, be thought-provoking as he shares strategies to pursue exponential development from many facets.
Kingsley Fregene, Principal Researcher for Robotics and Artificial Intelligent Systems at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories (LM ATL), will also speak at the forum to galvanize thoughts and strategies to fast track development.
Fregene’s team develops advanced Robotics and Unmanned Systems for missions in aerial, ground and maritime environments. He has led many advanced technology development programs for the U.S. DoD – at Lockheed Martin and in his prior role at Honeywell, where he made important contributions to air vehicle autonomy. Kingsley Fregene has six patents in the area of intelligent systems.
Others lined up to share their visions and positions on the quest for this technological advancement include Dr. Sam Amadi, former NERC MD, the Chief Ideas Officer 6th Sense, Engr. John Ugbe, MD, Multichoice Nigeria, Engr. Kashim Ali, Immediate past President, COREN and Partner at Impact Engineering Ltd, Lynda Madu, Associate Director Corporate Development and Services, Nestoil Group amongst others.
