Galatasaray’s Osimhen Returns To Training After Injury Setback

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has resumed training at Galatasaray after a brief period on the sidelines due to injury.

Galatasaray announced the development on Saturday via Instagram, stating, “Victor Osimhen has worked separately from the team within the special programme prepared for him.”

The 25-year-old striker sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s 3-3 Super Lig draw with Kasımpaşa on September 28, where he scored twice.

He signaled for a substitution at halftime due to discomfort and was replaced by his former Napoli teammate, Dries Mertens.

In the days following, Galatasaray provided an update on Osimhen’s fitness, raising concerns for Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of their AFCON qualifier against Libya, which they went on to win 1-0 in Uyo on Friday.

After the match, Osimhen reassured fans that he was “fine,” though he admitted to feeling some discomfort in his leg.

Galatasaray then released further details about his condition the following Tuesday.

“The treatment of our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his upper left posterior muscle during the Kasımpaşa match, has been started,” read the club’s statement.

The diagnosis revealed a muscle strain and minor bleeding in Osimhen’s left posterior muscle group.

As a result, he was sidelined for Galatasaray’s UEFA Europa League match against Rigas FC on October 3, as well as their Super Lig fixture against Alanyaspor on October 6.

Osimhen’s absence was also keenly felt by Nigeria, as the three-time African champions struggled to find the back of the net in their match against Libya.
