Gale’s Club to Donate Medical Equipment to Lagos General Hospital, School of the Blind

The Gale’s Club, comprising the alumni of Class 9A (1976–1979) of the Lagos State School of Nursing, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, is set to embark on a remarkable philanthropic initiative.
On December 5, 2024, the club will donate essential medical equipment to the General Hospital in Lagos and the School of the Blind, Idioro.This initiative is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to giving back to their alma mater and the broader community, a principle embedded in their motto: “To render services above self and stand out in our various fields of the nursing profession.”

The Gale’s Club was established in 1989 as a platform for camaraderie among the alumni of Class 9A, who began their nursing training on May 1, 1976, and qualified as registered nurses in May 1979 under the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

The name “Gale” is an acronym honoring Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. The club comprises accomplished professionals dedicated to advancing healthcare and education through their resources and expertise.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that President of Gale’s Club, Mrs. Omipé Sadipe, expressed the group’s dedication to serving their community and upholding the legacy of their nursing profession.

The club’s leadership, which includes Vice President Ibidola Adeniyi, Secretary Omotunde Ojikutu, and other trustees, has played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of these projects.

The Gale’s Club aims to foster relationships among alumni, current students, staff, and management of the Lagos State School of Nursing and the General Hospital, Lagos, while promoting the development of their alma mater and supporting its current students. It also collaborates with organizations and NGOs on health, education, and empowerment initiatives.

EKO HOT BLOG observed that the club has consistently undertaken impactful projects, including annual donations to the General Hospital, Lagos, acknowledging the state government’s support during their training, and the adoption and regular support of Ward A1 at the General Hospital for over five years.

This includes providing medical equipment, gifts for staff, and consistent engagement.

Also, the club organizes medical outreaches in various Lagos communities, offering healthcare services and referrals to those in need.
