It was gathered that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje decided to suspend the plan to prevent crisis, following the controversy it generated since the plan was announced .
It should be recalled that the Commander General, Hisbah Board , Sheik Haruna Sani , during a function at Bayero University Kano, said the action became necessary to address the disregard of Islamic laws by commercial drivers, especially tricycle operators .
Also, the state Commissioner for Information, Mallam Mohammed Garba, who earlier confirmed the ban, said the action was to ensure that Kano was Sharia compliant state.
Efforts to contact the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abba Anwar, to confirm or deny the development were unsuccessful.
