Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a former special adviser on media to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, has described his sack as an “honourable exit”.
The governor had sacked Yakasai for making a statement termed critical to the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. His sack was announced by the state commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, on Saturday, February 27.
Yakasai’s sack followed a statement on Friday, February 26, where he criticised the current administration over the abduction of some schoolgirls in Zamfara state.

Days after the sack, the former media aide on Monday, March 8, said he left the government with more goodwill than the one he got when joined.
According to him: ” After 5yrs in Government, the goodwill I got after leaving Government, is a million times more than the one I got when I got in. That’s indeed an honourable exit, which is rare in Nigeria. This is certainly God’s doing & I am eternally grateful to Him for His endless Blessings.”
