The family of Benjamin Oke in the Umuogoakpu-Ngbo community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State are currently in a state of dilemma over the killing of their two sons by hoodlums on Sunday.
According to the Ebonyi State Police Command Spokesperson, Loveth Odah, “The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday; one man reported the incident at the Ohaukwu Divisional Police Station that when Mrs Oke was frying garri in her compound, two men invaded the house and killed her two children.”
The boys, identified as Chinonso, 7 and Chukwudi, 4; were said to have been butchered in the presence of their mother.
Odah who confirmed the incident, further disclosed that two persons had been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to her, the hoodlums also attacked the eldest child of the family, who is lying critically ill at a hospital in the State.
The Spokesperson further stated that the corpses of the kids had been deposited in the mortuary, adding that investigation was on to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident.
An eyewitness identified as Onwe Emmanuel, disclosed that the hoodlums invaded the residence and butchered the children “mercilessly”, adding that “the woman was shouting and calling for help, but nobody could help her.”
“The yet-to-be-identified persons stormed the family compound of the victims with the possible intention of wiping out the entire family. The children were brutally butchered.” He added.
The mother of the victims is currently unable to speak as regards the incident.
