Gbenga Daniel Offers Support to Nigeria in Legal Dispute with Chinese Company
Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun State, has pledged to assist the Nigerian government in its ongoing legal battle with the Chinese firm Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Limited. The dispute, stemming from a failed contract dating back to 2007, has resulted in the seizure of several presidential jets.
The contract, which was initiated during Daniel’s tenure as governor, has led to legal action by Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment, resulting in the seizure of three presidential jets currently undergoing maintenance in France. One of these jets has since been returned to Nigeria.
In a recent statement, Daniel’s media office emphasized the significance of the issue, highlighting the importance of protecting national assets and collective interests.
The statement read, “This matter involves our national assets and Commonwealth, which every patriotic Nigerian should be concerned about.”
Daniel, who has a history of contributing to Nigeria’s development, including the establishment of the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, expressed his commitment to resolving the issue diplomatically.
The statement continued, “Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel is dedicated to assisting Nigeria by providing relevant records and support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at reaching a diplomatic resolution and supporting the Federal Government’s position in arbitration and court proceedings.”
