George Adegeye emerges as the winner of the House of Representatives seat in Amuwo-Odofin, under the Labor Party umbrella.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that George Adegeye, the Labour Party candidate for the House of Representatives in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos, has emerged as the winner of the February 25th, 2023 election in the area.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Adegeye’s victory after he polled 46,702 of the valid votes cast, defeating Prince Lanre Sanusi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 12,946 votes.

According to the results declared by the Returning Officer of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency, Professor Abayomi Okanlawon, Adegeye emerged victorious with a wide margin, leaving the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Oghene Ego, who is a serving member of the House of Representatives, a distant third with 5,752 votes.
Adegeye, who was elated with his victory, dedicated it to his late mother, whom he said has been immortalized by the win. In his victory speech, he thanked the people of Amuwo-Odofin for giving him the privilege to represent them in the House of Representatives, promising to use it judiciously.
“It was indeed a journey worth going and the end was very rewarding,” he said. “I have reiterated severally that I am on a mission to accomplish my late mother’s wish to liberate the good people of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency. You all have given me the privilege, and I promise to use it judiciously.”
Adegeye’s victory has been celebrated by members of the Labour Party in the area, who believe that his emergence as the winner of the election is a testament to his popularity and acceptance among the people.
They also believe that Adegeye’s victory will pave the way for the Labour Party to make more inroads in Lagos politics, especially in areas where they have traditionally been seen as a minority party.
