EKO HOT BLOG reports Ghana has parted ways with coach Chris Hughton following the Black Stars’ early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after failing to secure a victory in the group stage matches in Cote D’Ivoire, finishing third in Group B with only two points.
The decision to relieve Hughton of his duties, as well as the dissolution of the technical team of the Black Stars, was announced by the Ghana Football Federation’s executive council, according to a statement released on Tuesday.
Despite a disappointing draw against Mozambique, Ghana had a chance to qualify for the last 16 as one of the best third-placed teams, but Cameroon’s 3-2 victory over The Gambia on Tuesday sealed the Black Stars’ elimination from the tournament.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) mentioned that they will provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars in the coming days.
