Ghanaian Journalist Guinness World Record
Ghanaian journalist Abdul Hakim Awal has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest time spent hugging a tree.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that he 23-year-old journalist accomplished this by embracing a tree for an impressive 24 hours and 21 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 16 hours held by Ugandan environmental activist Faith Ariokot earlier this year.
The Guinness World Records made the announcement on its official X account on Tuesday, featuring a photo of Awal with the caption: “A 23-year-old journalist, Abdul Hakim Awal, hugged a tree for 24 hours and 21 minutes.”
The record-breaking attempt required Awal to remain standing with his arms wrapped around the tree continuously for the entire duration, without any breaks.

Speaking about his motivation behind this extraordinary achievement, Awal stated that his primary goal was to “promote reforestation and nature conservation in Ghana.” His dedication to the cause is evident through this effort, as he hopes to raise awareness about the importance of preserving nature and combating deforestation.
This new record by Awal has not only brought attention to environmental issues but also placed Ghana in the spotlight for its efforts in nature conservation.
