“Chelsea have bigger issues at the moment in terms of laying their foundation and finding the spine of their team,” he said.
Johnson described Felix as a “luxury player” who would be best suited to a team that has possession of the ball for the majority of the game. “He needs to be playing in a good team that has the ball for the majority of the time during a game, and that is not Chelsea at the moment,” he said.
While Johnson believes that Chelsea should look to sign Felix permanently, he cautioned against breaking the bank for the player. “He is a great player and they should look to sign him permanently, but they should not if they have to break the bank for him because they have got bigger fires to put out currently,” he said.
Chelsea have had a mixed season so far and are currently tenth in the Premier League table. They have also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, after defeating German side, Borussia Dortmund.
