Glitz And Glamour As Omola Of Odomola Celebrates Maiden Ojude Oba Festival In Grand Style

It was all glitz and glamour as the Omola of Odomola celebrated the town’s maiden Ojude Oba festival in grand style.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Omola of Odomola, HRM Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Adebowale has celebrated his first Ojude Oba festival since his ascension to the throne.

Ojude Oba festival is an annual festival that comes up every third day of Ileya Festival.

It features a vibrant and colourful display of different social and age groups known as the regbe regbe as well as other royal families who come to pay homage to the royal father.

The festival was marked by an islamic prayer held in the early hours of the day at the palace of the royal father.

As evening drew near, the Omola of Odomola accompanied by his wife, chiefs, family and well wishers made their way to the venue of the event to the anticipation of already seated guests.

Some of the Social groups, age groups and family present at the event are the Chiefs of Odomola Kingdom, Oloritun of Odomola Kingdom, Tobalase of Odomola kingdom, Adebowale Royal Family, Egbe Gbobaniyi of Odomola Kingdom among others.

Speaking to his subjects, Oba Adebowale expressed excitement at their presence to make history and celebrate tradition.

“My people, we’ve come a long way to this day. Congratulations to everyone of you for witnessing history today,” he said.

The Omola of Odomola charged his people to continue to embrace and promote their culture and tradition.

“Our culture is all we have; we can’t let it die,” Oba Adebowale said.

The monarch comes against the backdrop of Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija, urging his counterparts not to infuse modernity into traditional values.

“I advise all kings and traditional rulers to be conscious of their actions in public, especially regarding traditional practices,” the monarch said.

“They should not bring modernity into our traditions where it does not belong.”
