There have been allegations that a cabal in the presidency is against Tinubu’s presidential ambition. However, Buhari’s move was seen as a gesture to show his loyalty and support for the party and its national leader, Tinubu.
In a statement to the media, the President said he had openly displayed his ballot paper as further proof of his commitment to the APC and Tinubu, whom he had also campaigned for. He also expressed confidence that his constituency would elect Tinubu by 100 percent.
Buhari, who cast his vote alongside his wife, Aisha, and other family members at Ward A, Sarkin Yara Polling Unit 003, spoke about how he felt not being on the ballot paper for the first time since 2003. He described the experience as exciting and added that he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the candidates.
“I look at those who are competing, and some of them are so agitated, and they didn’t know that I tried three times and ended up in the Supreme Court three times. The fourth time I said ‘God dey,’ and God sent technology, Permanent Voters Card, so no fraudulent person can claim anything,” he stated.
