Having spent years entrenched in the secular music scene, Pepenazi candidly shares his battle with addiction, revealing that he was introduced to alcohol and drugs during his time in the industry.
Contrary to popular belief, he emphasizes that these substances don’t enhance creativity but instead lead down a destructive path.
In a poignant video message posted on his Instagram page, Pepenazi reflects on his past, stating, “God delivered me from alcohol, illicit drugs, and smoking.”
He sheds light on the deceitful nature of addiction, admitting that he once succumbed to the false notion that substance abuse was the key to feeling better and enhancing experiences.
Recalling his journey, Pepenazi shares, “Even before I became a professional artist, while I was still in university, there’s this lie that the devil sells to you…” He acknowledges the role he played in perpetuating this lie and expresses gratitude for his newfound freedom from its grip.
This revelation comes in the wake of Pepenazi’s transition from secular music to ministry, a move that was confirmed by his brother, OAP Do2tun, in a recent interview.
