Goodluck Jonathan Meets Buhari, Updates Him On The Mali Crisis

- The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari welcomed Former President, Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday, regarding updates on the ongoing situation in Mali.
Following the intervention by the military in Mali, ECOWAS made their stand known on a transition government controlled by a civilian, and returned to constitutional order within 12-18 months, among others.
The President was pleased and relieved that the Mali situation had been resolved considerably, after the intervention of the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
“We can’t do hop, step and jump like other developed nations of the world, but one is delighted at the successes recorded,” the President said.
Briefing on the latest updates, Dr Jonathan said the mission given him by ECOWAS leaders is almost accomplished, as a government with a powerful civilian face has been initiated.

According to Dr Jonathan, the President has been sworn in, the Prime Minister, and Ministers too. The military can boast of four portfolios for serving officers, and the government has proceeded to the next level.
The Council, which will work like parliamentarians, will be launched soon,” Dr Jonathan said.
The former President added that the Chairman of ECOWAS, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana would formally enlighten West African leaders soon.
