Gov. Diri Speaks On Termination Of Nengi’s Appointment

Bayelsa State government has made clarification on the purported removal of Big Brother Naija sensation, Nengi Hampson, as the Face of Bayelsa Girl-Child.

Reports in some online and conventional media have it that the former housemate of the popular reality TV show was removed from the position and replaced with Blessing Eradiri.

Ekohotblog recalls that Governor Diri had earlier in the week, appointed Ebizi Blessing Eradiri as the Face of Bayelsa Girl-Child.

Eradiri is the First Class graduate of law from the Niger Delta University, NDU – the first female to achieve such feat in the school’s law faculty. She also also finished with First Class from the Nigerian Law School.

Governor Diri was castigated for having picked Nengi ahead of the double First Class graduate for the position.

Also, after the announcement of Eradiri’s appointment was made on Monday, Nengi took to her social media to congratulate her and pledge her support and promised to work together with the NDU graduate.

However, reacting to claims and reports that Nengi was removed to pave way for Eradiri, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Alabrah told the BBC that the former lockdown housemate was never appointed as the Face of Bayelsa Girl-Child.

He added that the government could appoint as many people as it likes depending on whatever sector they want to focus on.

“Nengi is in the entertainment sector so she can function in that aspect while Ebizi Eradiri is in the education sector.

“All is for them to inspire and encourage girls in the state so they can aspire better. It is bad for people to speculate and politicise everything.”
