Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administered the oath of office to the new members of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission at the State House in Ikeja on Tuesday.

Retired Permanent Secretary Boladele Dapo-Thomas was appointed Chair of the statutory body, playing a pivotal role in upholding professionalism within the civil service.

Additional Commission members include Fatai Lasisi, Lateef Olawale, Afolabi Sobowale, and Rufus Adedapo.

During the inauguration ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the State Government’s commitment to maintaining integrity, fairness, and efficiency, highlighting their importance for the effectiveness of the Lagos civil service and the broader development of the State.

He said the principles are crucial components for the Lagos civil service’s effectiveness and the overall development of the State.

In addition, the governor expressed confidence in the newly appointed members’ capabilities to lead the civil service towards excellence.

Sanwo-Olu said, “As leaders of the Civil Service Commission, you bear the responsibility of ensuring that the Lagos civil service operates with discipline and meritocracy.

“Your decisions will affect the quality of public services that millions of Lagosians depend on daily for quality services in different areas of life, ranging from education and healthcare to security and infrastructure.

“I urge you to lead with transparency, to foster innovation, and to create opportunities for growth within the civil service.

“Above all, you must be accountable to the people you serve, putting their interests above all else. While you are being entrusted with the responsibility to carry out the challenging tasks, you must remember the solemn duty placed on your shoulders. “

Sanwo-Olu extended his congratulations to the newly appointed members , stating his belief that the Lagos civil service would continue to be a model of excellence under their guidance. He encouraged the commission to prioritize innovation, integrity, and efficiency in their operations.

The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, commended the administration’s consistent appointment of highly capable individuals, attributing this practice to the Lagos civil service’s reputation as the most dynamic among sub-nationals.

Agoro expressed confidence in the new commission members’ ability to contribute positively to policy development and enhance overall competence within the state’s workforce.

In response, Dapo-Thomas, the newly appointed Chair of the Commission, assured on behalf of the appointees that they would work diligently to support the administration’s vision and strengthen the skills of the State’s workforce.
