Gov. Umahi Fires Appointees From Anyim’s Local Govt.

Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has sacked most of his political appointees from Ivo Local Government Area of the State.

The sack was announced by the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Kenneth Ugboala on Wednesday.

He said the sack was informed by the Governor’s decision to ensure inclusiveness in governance.

A former ally of Umahi and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim hails from the local government.

The Governor had a fall out with Anyim and other People Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in the state following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The sack, however, is coming on the heels of an open letter Anyim wrote to Umahi and copied President Muhammadu Buhari, and heads of security agencies.

In the said letter, Anyim alleged that Umahi was plotting to kill him, among other issues.

The letter was also a reaction to an earlier accusation by Umahi that Anyim was plotting with other top People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in the state to unleash violence in the state.

Umahi had last Thursday sacked Coordinators of Ivo and Echiele Development Centres for allegedly refusing to sign a communiqué against Senator Pius Anyim.

Some of the Umahi’s appointees from Ivo had resigned days ago, before the Wednesday’s sledgehammer.

Appointees from Sam Egwu, who is the Senator representing Ebonyi North, were also sacked last week.
