Wike Bans Use Of Residential Areas As Campaign Offices

Wike has issued a fresh executive order banning the use of residential areas as campaign offices.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Rivers State Government has banned the use of premises, buildings, and structures in residential areas in urban and non-urban areas as campaign offices by political parties.

The government said any political party that wishes to use structures in residential areas as campaign offices must seek permission from the Rivers State Ministry of Planning and Urban Development.

The ban was contained in Executive Order 22 signed by Governor Nyesom Wike.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Chris Finebone, Executive Order 22 took effect on Nov. 11, 2022.

The commissioner quoted the governor as frowning at the defacement of expensive public properties in Port Harcourt and the indiscriminate posting of handbills, banners, and all sorts of unauthorized materials.
