The impeachment took place on Tuesday, with 18 members of the Ogun State House of Assembly voting to remove Oluomo from his position.

He was swiftly replaced by another ranking lawmaker, Oludaisi Elemide, representing the Odeda State constituency.

Governor Abiodun clarified that the decision to impeach Oluomo was a result of ongoing internal wrangling within the Assembly and not a direct involvement of his office.

He stated that efforts were being made by his administration, in collaboration with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, to amicably resolve the issues.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun expressed the government’s commitment to addressing the internal conflicts within the Assembly democratically and justly.

He acknowledged that despite the disagreements, the members had affirmed their loyalty to him.

The governor underscored the importance of resolving the disputes peacefully to ensure that the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Ogun State remains unaffected.
