Governor Relaxes Curfew in Plateau’s Mangu LG Following Killings and Crisis

Eko Hot Blog reports Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has eased the 24-hour curfew imposed on the Mangu Local Government Area in response to the recent wave of killings and unrest.

The curfew, initially in effect round-the-clock, will now be observed from 4 pm to 8 am daily until further notice.

The decision to relax the curfew was announced in a statement by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, on Friday.

The move follows strategic engagements with community leaders from diverse faiths and ethnic backgrounds, leading to an improvement in the security situation in the affected local government area.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the revised curfew and urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.

He also called on security personnel to enforce the curfew effectively, aiming to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order.

Expressing gratitude for the cooperation received, Governor Mutfwang encouraged the community to maintain collaboration with security agencies, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to restore peace and order in Mangu.

Despite the relaxation of the curfew, the governor cautioned against complacency and affirmed the state government’s commitment to preventing any actions that could disrupt public tranquility.

Addressing citizens directly, Governor Mutfwang urged active participation in security efforts by providing credible intelligence to relevant security agencies.

He assured the public that the government is working tirelessly to ensure the permanent restoration of peace in the state.
