Governor Sanwo-Olu Speaks On Arrest Of Sunday Igboho

  • Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has spoken about the arrest of popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo fondly known as Sunday Igboho, in the Benin Republic.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says people are “working behind the scenes”  over the arrest and trial of Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made this known while speaking to newsmen at Polling Unit 019 Ward 08, Ikoyi II, where he cast his vote during the Local Government/Council Areas election in Lagos State on Saturday.

The governor, when asked about the presumed silence of South-West governors on the arrest of Sunday Igboho in the Benin Republic, answered that “people are working behind the scenes”.

Governor Sanwo-Olu further stated that the case doesn’t have to be a public conversation.

He said, “These are very difficult times for all of us. I can assure you that people are working behind the scenes.

“At occasions like this, it’s not by how many Press people you call.

“I’m aware that a lot of people have responses that they are doing quietly and privately and it doesn’t have to be a public conversation,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated.

EKO HOT BLOG had reported how Sunday Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic on Monday night while attempting to flee to Germany.

However, the Federal Government of Nigeria has since been pushing for Sunday Igboho’s extradition to Abuja, the nation’s capital.

EKO HOT BLOG, however, gathered that all frantic efforts already being made to extradite Sunday Igboho back to Nigeria to face the law “are being blocked” by some interested groups within and outside the country.

The Federal Government (FG), the six governors in the South-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria, and security agencies in the country have all remained silent on the arrest and detention of Sunday Igboho.
