Governor Sanwo-Olu Tours Ikosi-Ejinrin, Inspects Mental Health Institute, Food Security Hub

Ekohotblog reports that Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu visited the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Saturday, November 30, 2024, to assess the progress of two significant projects in Ketu-Ereyun: the Lagos State Mental Health Institute and the Lagos Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub.

The Governor was received by members of his cabinet, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, local chiefs, and community leaders.

The Lagos State Mental Health Institute, currently under construction on 25 hectares of land, will feature 1,000 beds designed to provide comprehensive care for individuals with mental health challenges.

The facility will also offer recreational spaces and skill development programs, supporting patients in their reintegration into society.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, while inspecting the project, stated, “This center will provide proper care for people with mental health issues and ensure they are supported to live better lives.”

The first phase, with 500 beds, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The Governor also visited the Lagos Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub, an initiative aimed at enhancing agriculture and food systems in the state.

The hub will facilitate food storage, transportation, and distribution, removing intermediaries and stabilizing food prices.

“This project will make food more affordable and ensure farmers and sellers get fair prices for their produce,” Sanwo-Olu remarked.
“It will also strengthen food security for everyone in Lagos State.”

The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba Wale Raji Anomo, expressed gratitude to the Governor for bringing such transformative projects to the area.

“These projects will change the lives of our people by creating jobs and improving our economy,” Anomo said.

“We will do everything possible to support the state government in completing these projects on time.”

Anomo also highlighted other ongoing and planned initiatives in the LCDA, including the Lagos Film Village in Ejinrin, the Okobaba Timberville Relocation Settlement in Agbowa/Owu, and the forthcoming NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Odo-Ayandelu.
