Governor Umo Eno Launches Investigation Into Shocking Attack on NYSC Member

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has directed that the murder of a Corps member be investigated.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has ordered the state Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi; and health commissioner, Prof Augustine Umo, to investigate the attempted murder of a member of the National Youth Service Corps in the state.
The NYSC member posted to St. Theresa Hospital, Use Abat in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of the state was attacked on January 2, 2023, by an unknown person who broke into her apartment and asked her to transfer money into his account.
It was gathered that her attacker left her after sensing that help was coming her way when some patients in the hospital knocked on her door.

But the governor in a statement by his Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong, on Wednesday, titled
- “Governor Eno orders immediate investigation into attempted murder at Use Abat, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area” directed that the two commissioners should brief him immediately after the investigation.
The statement read in part,
- “In reaction to the news of an allegation of attempted murder of a corps member at the St. Theresa Hospital, Use Abat, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno has directed the Commissioner of Police and the Honourable Commissioner for Health to undertake an immediate investigation into the matter, and brief him accordingly.
- “He assured the citizens of his commitment to the safety and security of the lives and property of citizens and residents in the state.”
