Governor Wike Losing Grip Of PDP As Defection Hits Rivers

• The grip of Governor Nyesome Wike on Rivers State politics may be loosening as a member of the House of Representatives, Chisom Dike, swapped the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the broom of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was detailed in a letter directed to the House through the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila,  EkoHotBlog reports.

In the letter read by Gbajabiamila on Thursday, Dike established that the constant crisis in the PDP prompted his decision to defect to the ruling APC.

He also said the leadership of the Speaker influenced his decision to switch allegiance.

Defection from the PDP to APC has almost become a weekly occurrence in the House of Representatives in Nigeria.

Before the annual recess, about 10 lawmakers from Zamfara and Cross River states defected to the APC from the PDP.

It is difficult to detach the political scuffle between Wike and PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus.
