Govt Ignores Nigerians Abducted By Bandits, Rescues 300 Cows
- “On sighting the security men, the suspects ran into the bushes”
Despite having many hapless citizens languishing in the den of bandits and their fate in the balance, in an operation that could translate as placing premium on lives of animals over that of humans, Nigeria security agencies in one night recovered 300 rustle cows.
The recovery operation was carried out by the security outfits in partnership with Zamfara state government, the state governor Bello Matawalle said.
Speaking on Sunday when he received media practitioners and executives, Matawalle said the state government received an Intel about movement of the cows by armed rustlers and alerted security agencies who swung into action.
“We received intelligence about the movement of suspected armed cattle rustlers around Kuraji village on the outskirts of Gusau, and we soon mobilised security personnel to the place” The governor said during the media parley to break the Ramadan fast at his Gusau residence.

“On sighting the security men, the suspects ran into the bushes, and the security men recovered the cows which have been brought to Gusau.
“We shall soon make an announcement for the rightful owners to come and identify their animals so that they can be released to then,” explained the governor.
He, however, expressed concern that Kuraji and a section of Gusau were discovered to shelter criminals, especially kidnappers, and warned that anyone arrested would be dealt with.
Matawalle promised to keep the media abreast of happenings in the state with a view to to ensuring accurate reportage of events.
He urged the people to give credible information that could lead to the dispelling of any criminal intention on innocent persons.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Zamfara chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bello Boko, commended the governor and lauded his media aides, assuring that media practitioners would always give balanced reports.
