Lopetegui, who was appointed less than eight months ago to succeed David Moyes, conducted training on Tuesday but now appears likely to exit following a disappointing run of form.

The Hammers announced the cancellation of Lopetegui’s press conference on Wednesday morning, where he was expected to discuss Friday’s FA Cup third-round clash with Aston Villa.

The 58-year-old former Spain coach is reportedly on the brink of dismissal after consecutive heavy defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City over the holiday period.

West Ham currently sit 14th in the Premier League, having collected just eight points from their last eight games.

Known for his success at Ostersund, Swansea, and Brighton, Potter struggled to replicate that success at Chelsea, winning only 12 of 31 matches during his tenure.
