Eko Hot Blog reports that In a joyous and spiritually charged ceremony, Sheikh Abdulkabir Oriyomi Shamradeen was turbaned as the 9th Chief Imam of Epe Itaopo Central Mosque, and the occasion was graced by eminent personalities and dignitaries.
The Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Sheikh Abiola Sadallah, imparted words of wisdom, urging the newly turbaned Imam to be filled with the fear of God and to exhibit patience in leading and mentoring his followers.
“My advice for the newly turbaned imam is for him to be filled with the fear of God. And for his followers which he would be leading in prayer and mentoring, he should be patient with them because we are humans and we have different behaviors, opinions, and characters. So God will lead him through.”
Chief Shakirudeen Amani Banu Seriki, the Apache of Epe Kingdom, used the platform to emphasize unity among diverse religious beliefs, stating that regardless of faith, Nigerians serve one God.
“Now I’m happy that you all know what is happening now, and both Christian Muslims and traditionalists we all serve one God, so let’s network together and make Nigeria work,” he said.
Honorable Tobun, Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, expressed gratitude in all circumstances, emphasizing that destiny had destined Sheikh Abdulkabir Oriyomi Shamradeen to be the Chief Imam, assuring that he would not be demoted.
Honorable Tobun reiterated that Epe is an Islamic land, emphasizing the significance of respecting the position of the Imam.
Hon. Wale Raji, the chairman of the event, referred to Quran chapter 3 verse 6, highlighting that God gives power to the powerful and installs people in positions. He urged accountability and unity within the mosque, emphasizing that it should not be a place of conspiracy and politics.
“And to those who will be working with him, the mosque should not be a place of conspiracy and politics, they should work together as one to further promote peace and the good image of Islam.”
The event also witnessed a lecture delivered by Prof. Abdul Afis Ayinde Oladosu.
The turbaning ceremony was conducted by Sheikh Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abou-Nolla, the Chief Imam of Lagos State.
Dignitaries in attendance included Alhaji Chief M.B. Bakre, Baba Adinni of Epe Land, Alhaja Chief (Mrs.) R. Adenike Tobun, Iya Adinni of Epe Land, Alh. Chief Shakiru Akanni Seriki Apase of Epe Land, Asiwaju Adinni of Epe Central Mosque, Ita Opo, Epe Land, Lagos State. The Royal Father of the day, HRM Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, the Oloja & Paramount Ruler of Epe Land, presided over the event.
Hon. Mustain Abiodun Tobun, Member Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe Constituency 1 Mogaji Adinni of Epe Land, and Hon. Princess Urah Olayemi Animashaun, the Executive Chairman of Epe L.G., also graced the occasion.
The turbaning ceremony symbolized not only a significant spiritual transition but also an affirmation of unity and cooperation among the diverse religious communities in Epe.
The celebration extended into dancing, expressing the natural and cultural life of the people of Epe, creating a vibrant tapestry of joy and cultural richness.
