Grandfather Drags Grandson To Court For Snatching His Wife

  • The pastor explained that he carried out all the traditional marriage rites in accordance with the Idoma Native Laws and Customs.

 

A 73-year-old man identified as Pastor Sale Ekah has charged his grandson, Danjuma Ejiji to court for snatching his wife.

Pastor Ekah also claimed that his grandson Danjuma snatched his child alongside his Fatima Ekah. The case was brought before a Makurdi Upper Area Court.

Pastor Ekah told the court on Thursday in Makurdi that he married Fatima lawfully under the Idoma Native Laws and Customs.

He said that the accused (Danjuma Ejiji) is also a native of Idoma and resides at Obagaji, Agatu Local Government Area of the state.

The pastor said the accused was answerable to the Idoma Native Laws and Customs, adding that adultery is a criminal offence which contravened Section 387 of the Penal Code Laws.

He revealed that the accused sometime seized his wife, who was pregnant, and carried her to his house untill the wife delivered a baby boy.

The pastor explained that he carried out all the traditional marriage rites in accordance with the Idoma Native Laws and Customs.

“My wife is with my grandson, the accused. Fatima was selling pap and will always come to sell akamu to me. Her parents later released her to me to help me in cooking food from there she took interest in marrying me.

“I told her that I am too old for her and she is too young, but she continued pestering me to marry her,” the pastor told the court of the actions of his grandson.
