In Epe Local Government, party delegates, aspirants, and security personnel including police officers and men of the Department of State Services (DSS) gathered across wards to participate in the internal democratic exercise.

At Ward A1, Hon. Adedeji Lawal, the unopposed incumbent seeking re-election for a second term, was affirmed by delegates in a peaceful process. APC stakeholders, party faithful, and security operatives all witnessed the proceedings.

Speaking on Hon. Lawal’s unopposed emergence, the Supervisor for Health, Epe Local Government, Hon. Bolaji Alebiosu, stated:
“Hon. Adedeji Lawal has performed excellently well during his first term.

His re-election bid has the backing of the delegates and the approval of our Apex Leader, Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki (Bamu), who also hails from this ward. This is a show of unity and reward for performance.”

In Ward A3, the incumbent Councilor and Deputy Leader of the Epe Local Government Legislative Arm, Hon. Oniga Kazeem, along with the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Saheed Rahmon, ensured smooth coordination of the process. Councilorship aspirant Mr. Orunbon Semiu Taiwo, who contested for the ticket, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primary.

“I am fully prepared to consolidate on the achievements of those before me and bring innovation to governance at the grassroots,” Orunbon told journalists. “My focus is on taking our ward to greater heights through inclusive development.”

Ward A4 also recorded peaceful voting, with delegates casting their ballots under the watchful eyes of military personnel, police officers, and civil defense corps. The high turnout of party delegates reflected a vibrant commitment to grassroots democracy.

However, at Eredo LCDA, the process was not without tension. Delegates expressed displeasure over the decision by electoral officers to move all ballots to a central collation center instead of counting votes at individual polling units.

One delegate, who spoke under anonymity, said:
“This approach raises concerns about transparency. We insisted that votes should be counted where they were cast to maintain confidence in the process.”

Despite the disagreement, security agencies managed the situation professionally, preventing any escalation and ensuring the safety of all involved.
