Eko Hot Blog reports that the Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has mourned the death of the Director, LASU Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA), Prof. Esther Adeyinka Okubena-Dipeolu.
Prof. Okubena-Dipeolu sadly passed away in the early hours of, Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her residence within the LASU Staff Quarters, Epe Campus, Lagos State.
In a statement, Prof. Olatunji-Bello described the late Prof. Okubena-Dipeolu as one of the most energetic drivers behind her administration’s success, especially through the numerous endowments she attracted to the university in her capacity as the Director of LASUDA.
She reckoned that the late academic was an affable and gracious woman, devoted teacher, and enigmatic administrator who cannot be easily replaced.
Prof. Olatunji-Bello also noted that Prof. Okubena-Dipeolu’s demise is a personal loss to her and a great loss to the university as a whole.
The LASU boss prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Prof. Okubena-Dipeolu and that the Almighty God will console those that she left behind.
“May her soul rest in peace,” she prayed.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Epe General Hospital.
Before her demise, Prof. Okubena-Dipeolu was an accomplished academic who specialised in Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition.
Born on 9th September 1964, she joined the services of LASU in 2004 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science where she rose to become a professor on October 1, 2018.
She was appointed Director, Institute of Organic Agriculture and Green Economy, Epe Campus, and served between May 10, 2021, and November 23, 2021.
Prof. Okubena-Dipeolu was then appointed as Director of the LASUDA on November 24, 2021, a position she held till her death.
