Group Accuses Gov Sule Of Lopsided Appointments

  • A cultural group under the auspices of Migili Cultural Development Association in Nasarawa State has berated Governor Abdullahi Sule.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the group accused the governor for not appointing any of its kinsmen into the state executive council.

Governor Sule had forwarded names of 15 Commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation for the second time, who are to be sworn in later this month.

In a statement made available to our correspondent in Lafia on Wednesday, the President of the association, Philip Ajeh, explained that since Governor Sule was elected into office in 2019, he had been excluding people from the Migili nation from being members of the state executive council.

According to the statement, “The MCDA is deeply worried about this development and we believe that there must be some underground reasons for such exclusion which the Migili nation deserve to be informed by the state government instead of allowing the public to rely on assumptions or speculations.

“When the Migili nation was excluded in the first cabinet by the Governor in 2019, there was an outcry and this again has given rise to several interpretations and concerns within the Migili nation and the entire state since this is happening for the first time after the creation of Nasarawa State in 1996”.

The MCDA pointed out that its kinsmen were spread across the southern part of the state with very high voting strength, warning that neglecting the Migili people who control five out of the ten electoral wards in Obi Local Government Area of the state from being appointed into the state executive council was politically dangerous.
